The 4-star prestige hotel features the renowned Island Grill, open from breakfast until 11pm, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Hyde Park. The adjacent Lounge Bar is famed for an Afternoon Tea service that includes white chocolate lollypops, pistachio macaroons, seasonal fruit tarts and caramel hazelnut tranches.
The Daily Mail’s Online Travel guide recently featured the Lancaster London among its round up of the best afternoon tea offerings across the country.
In an exercise that has seen the Lancaster London move completely away from its previous supplier of undercounter warewashing equipment, three FV 40.2 G GiO machines have just been installed.
Two are used in the Lounge Bar. The third is directly facing the hot beverage station in the busy Island Grill, where it handles a mixed selection of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
All three machines feature MEIKO’s GiO Reverse Osmosiswater treatment that provides sparkling clean, spot free results and does not require the use of a water softener.
There are enormous benefits in using the most technically advanced warewashing machines for customers such as the Lancaster London. MEIKO UK is the only supplier of warewashing equipment able to offer a “No-Bills” guarantee up to five year terms.
This guarantee enables customers to fix operating costs with no risk of unexpected or unbudgeted repair bills and Clare Wright FCIPS, Director of Procurement, Lancaster London, commented: “We are delighted with MEIKO’s after sales support and it made absolute sense to take up the offer of an extended warranty.”
“In 2010 and 2011 we replaced our big machines with MEIKO and have been delighted with the results. The warewashing operations in the hotel are now all meiko. The staff find the machines easy to use and, importantly, they are happy with the results.”
The two main function kitchens are located on different floors and work in tandem to handle anything up to 2,000 covers. The upgrade focussed on energy saving and key to the back of house refurbishment was a new M-iQ dishwasher, fitted with reverse osmosis, for use as a glasswasher in the Westbourne kitchen.
Upstairs in the Nine King’s kitchen, a second wide body M-iQ flight dishwasher and a third standard width M-iQ machine handle the crockery and cutlery.
In 2011, the then Director of Back of House Operations Oliver Darwin commented:
“The wash quality is spot-on – we don’t need anyone for polishing any more. On the old MEIKO machines, we used to have three people polishing; now we just have to check the ware is OK.”
“I also appreciated MEIKO providing the statistics for water efficiency and detergent usages, information I needed to provide for our in-house environmental audits and this proved to be invaluable to us with our – ‘walk softly’ – philosophy.”
